HOME OF OUR WORKSHOPS
Hudson Valley Playwrights was founded in June 2014. A lab for local writers to develop new works for the stage, we meet regularly at the Morton Memorial Library and Community House in Rhinecliff. We made our debut at the Morton in January 2015 as part of a benefit for the library. Thirteen playwrights presented new short plays to a well-attended audience, which proved to be a successful benefit for the library and an inspiration for local playwrights.
The debut benefit was the forerunner to a Trilogy of New Works by Hudson Valley writers at The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck that began in 2015 and ended in 2017. Thirty-one new and original short plays by local artists were produced at The CENTER in collaboration with WARRIOR PRODUCTIONS, a small independent production company that promotes new and original plays written and performed by local artists.
The last of three short play festivals concluded in September 2017, as we move onto other projects and expand our presence in other parts of the region! We had a wonderful three year run at The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck, a state of the art theater and truly the gem of Rhinebeck.
